Resources

We know that a lot has been, and is continuing to be, written about the idea of decolonising, in development studies and more widely.

We will be sharing resources that maybe relevant to our discussions in the workshop series here.

Please feel free to get in touch with recommendations for other resources.

Convivial thinking is an open group of scholars thinking, working and writing on all issues related to post- and decolonial approaches in the context of development, development studies and beyond.

Study Group DSA.jpg

The Development Studies Association (DSA) launched the study group ‘Decolonising Development’, interested in reflecting on pathways for change through four main strands:

  • Problematising and rethinking the continuities and divergences of the colonial genealogy of Development Studies

  • Alternative approaches in development and alternatives to development

  • The (up)risings of the South(s) and theorising from the ‘margins’

  • Anti-racism, anti-sexism, and equitable partnerships in development  (#MeToo & #AidToo)

Watch the video from the launch event in September 2020 and access more information about the study group here.

  • Decolonising research and research practice

  • Decolonising teaching

  • Decolonising Higher Education and academic institutions

  • Wider readings on decolonial perspectives/theory

  • Networks and information-sharing platforms

  • Films and recorded events

  • Some suggested authors

DecoIDEV .jpg

The Action DecolDEV takes on the challenge to reconstruct the concept and practice of development after its deconstruction. It aims for a resetting and diversification of the actors, structures, institutions and spaces in which knowledge about and for development is produced, shared, contested and put into practice.
